Founded in 1964, Thayer Power & Communication Company is a premier service provider in the Power and Fiber construction industries. Having an experienced team allows the company to provide excellent customer service and to be a true partner to its clients from concept to reality when it comes to performing installations and services.

In 2016, Thayer Power & Communication (TPC) moved its corporate office to Columbus, OH. Today, we have nine regional offices throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Virginia, covering a wide area across the Eastern United States allowing for quick responses to emergencies and clients’ needs.

In 2020, Thayer Power & Communication formed a parent entity, Thayer Infrastructure Services, and began acquiring quality firms with the same values to broaden our footprint as a regional enterprise.

TPC takes pride in our reputation for quality, our culture of safety, and our ability to stay current with the needs of the Power and Telecommunications industries, and we currently offer the following services: Power, Fiber, Joint Use,  Underground, Design & Drafting, and Emergency Restoration. One of the things that set TPC apart from other service providers, is our ability to work as a team, bringing multiple capabilities and entities on board, to complete a project safely and efficiently anywhere in our regional footprint. 

Our Services

Power

Our Power Team is one of the original services provided by TPC when we started! This team specializes in high-voltage power installation and repair assignments, including but not limited to distribution, transmission, substation, emergency restoration, ADSS (power space), and smart grid technology installations.

FiberCom

Our Fiber Team is another original service of TPC, previously known as the Telecommunications Division this team’s capabilities have evolved in step with the industry! Among many other capabilities, our FiberCom team is skilled in aerial ADSS and OPGW fiber installations, line maintenance, and it oversees all splicing work associated with fiber installations.

Joint Use

Our team provides quality services for the planning of utility pole attachment transfers and pole inspections. We specialize in planning and management of maker-ready attachments; two-pole clean up and removal — “double wood remediations;” as well as violation repairs.

Underground

TPC has a long history of completing underground placement assignments for the Power and Telecommunications customers. Our capabilities include but are not limited to horizontal directional drilling, trenching, and rural broadband installations.

Design & Drafting

Among other capabilities, our Design & Drafting Team specializes in fiber plan & profile design; small cell design, as well as permitting.

Emergency Restoration

TPC’s Emergency Restoration Services have been responding to weather-related power outages in the Atlantic and Gulf regions since 2006. When the call comes for assistance, our team can mobilize within 24 hours and stands ready to assist our neighbors in their time of need!

​To support TPC’s multiple divisions, we have an incredible Fleet Department. This department maintains a fleet of well-maintained vehicles and equipment. Our fleet is made up of multiple power buckets, directional bore rigs, cable placers, Digger Derricks, a hydro excavation VacTruck, excavators, and support vehicles.

We are dedicated to providing a safe environment for employees, making sure our culture is always safe.
